About B-DIA

The name “Bharat” took centre stage on the global platform when the Hon’ble Prime Minister used the nameplate with “Bharat” at the 2023 G20 Summit. Inspired by this, the Bharat Digital Infrastructure Association (B-DIA) was established in March 2025 as a not-for-profit industry body dedicated to fostering and strengthening the ecosystem for:

01. Bharat’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as a force for public good.
02. A trusted and sovereign technology framework under the broader ecosystem envisioned by the Indian government and the Digital India program.

India leads the world in digital innovation with its uniquely positioned DPI and a thriving technology sector. However, despite the presence of multiple industry bodies, India’s digital companies—especially startups—are yet to unlock their full potential, particularly in emerging technologies such as AI, Cloud, IoT, and Blockchain. One of the key challenges is defining and advancing India’s digital policies while ensuring digital sovereignty.

Traditional industry associations have played a vital role in India’s IT and digital transformation journey. However, they are bound by legacy missions that prioritize continuity over adaptation to emerging trends, often focusing on outputs rather than real-world impact.

B-DIA, with a startup mindset—emphasizing agility, research-driven advocacy, innovation, and an out-of-the-box approach—aims to drive meaningful change by shaping long-term policy frameworks and advocating for digital infrastructure that serves India’s national and domestic digital industry interests in both the short and long term.
